Barb M. Barcom of Arkansan has been battling liver cancer since the fall of 2006. She went to Memphis, Tennessee for treatments. While in the hospital over Christmas, a fire destroyed most of the home she and her husband (Charles) live in. By June of 07 testing showed the cancer cells have been shrinking and she was well enough to go home. Through it all they have continued to trust in the Lord for guidance.

Two weeks ago Charles was taken to the hospital. He was having a hard time breathing and was placed in ICU for several days. They believe the trouble is in his heart and was brought on by stress? After testing the doctors have told him he can no longer work. On April 3rd Barb will have another surgery on her liver. They will be placing a probe into her liver where cancer is still growing and use pinpoint heating it to try and kill the cancer cells. Her doctors are hoping this will work and Barb will not need to go through and more chemo treatments?

The family is asking for our prayers for both parents as take these treatments. May the Lord's hands of mercy and His grace be with them.

Please pray for Melvin (Sonny) Esch who was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in August 07. He was given immediate intense chemotherapy, hard and heavy, 24/7. Without these treatments he was told survival would only be for 6 weeks. By October Sonny was found to be in remission and later shown to have no signs of Leukemia.

The road to recovery has been long and hard with many more treatments. Sonny needed a bone marrow transplant. A matching donor has been found. On January 8th Sonny will be admitted to Hershey Medical Center, where he will under go 7 days of intense chemo! On the 16th his doctors will proceed with the marrow transplant.

Please be in prayer for Keith Landis of Ohio. Keith was diagnosed Leukemia in July 07. Family and friends from Ohio and PA are asking for our continued prayers for Keith and family.

When Keith was admitted to the James Cancer Center, his blood cells counts were so low they couldn't believe he was still alive. Keith was placed on a 24/7 high dose of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. After months of treatments, Keith was found to be in remission from his Leukemia. The next step was two 6 week secessions of low-does arsenic to insure no Leukemia was hidden within his bone marrow. Keith will return to the hospital in January for more chemo and will be placed on chemo therapy pills for one year.

Keith and Brenda have continued to share their faith and testimony of the Lord's wondrous healing power with others. Please keep Keith, Brenda and family in your prayers as they take the next step in Keith's recovery.

Update:
Praise be to our Lord for His healing ways. The medicine Keith is taking to keep his leukemia in check is working. One of side effects is that it can raise your cholesterol levels. Recent testing showed that his cholesterol levels are okay. His blood count numbers continue to be normal, indicating his leukemia is still in remissions. Keith and Brenda thank everyone for the prayers and support. A special note is below from Keith:

" We hope that you are doing well and enjoying the presence and blessings of God. Continue to seek and draw near to Him and He will draw near to you. I am living testimony to that fact of faith!"

Shalom,
Keith

Keith continues to receive good progress reports with each checkup. Keith and Brenda are very thankful for all the continued prayers and support. Romans 8:28 says; "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them." The Lord has been using Keith's story of his leukemia, his faith in God and his recovery to touch so many lives. Like many others, Keith gives witness to the experiences this journey in life has brought to him and his family. He instills to those he meets, that his strength comes from our Lord and all is done for the glory of God!

Please be in prayers for Karen Geiger of Danville, PA. Karen had a GMB brain tumor removed and had been cancer free for the last year and a half. A Cat-Scan in September 07 showed a tumor mass had returned to the same area where her first tumor was removed. After more testing, her doctors scheduled her for surgery to remove the new mass. Testing showed it was cancer and Karen has been taking Chemotherapy. Because of her first bout with cancer, she has taken all the Radiation treatments allowed. Some of the new medications she has been given has caused some complicated side effects. Please keep Karen, her husband Barry and son in your prayers has they travel this road to recovery again.

Update:
Karen has been taking her chemotherapy at Geisinger Medical Center for about the past six months. After each treatment Karen becomes very ill. These treatments are taking a very high toll on her body system. After recent testing, it has been found that the type of chemo has been taking has been ineffective. They were going to place her back on radiation again, but instead are going to try a new form of chemo type treatment used in an Ohio hospital. Karen has been told her likely hood of living is just six months to one year? Her family and friends wish to thank everyone for your continued prayers for Karen and her sister Esther, who is fighting breast cancer.

Update: 06-23-08
Karen's chemo wasn't working to treat her cancer and the side effects were causing her a lot of trouble. Memory loss, dizziness, depression, etc. By the Lord's grace, it was found out that a new type of chemo that has been used on colon cancer, also shows success in some types of brain cancer. Karen has now taken her third treatment and test so far have shown good progress. The side effects from the other chemo have now reversed. She will be on this new chemo treatment for the next six months.

Karen wishes to thank everyone for all the cards, letters and your continued prayers of support. She encourages others to trust in the Lord and seek His guidance daily.
